I started painting on a work that I had set aside for a while. It’s a figurative piece showing a woman standing in the ocean summoning a whale from the waters. It’s part of a series I want to start which I will call the Summoning, where I depict magical people communing with nature through magic. As with any art, I’m doing this for myself. I want to explore the topic of animism, where everything around us is holy and magical and has it’s own energy. Science reflects on that, everything is run by energy, and I feel that this is where science and magic meet.
Crowley my linebacker sized kitty decided to jump onto my wardrobe while I was painting, he hung out there with my star map globe and my broom, as if to say “lets go for a ride!” He is the newest and the last member of our little tribe of humans and beasts. Andrew and I had to work together to get him down and I thought of all the tropes of cats stuck in trees. In the end we managed to get him down, and I really needed to dust off that star globe.
Astrology Notes:
We start the day with a bunch of inconjuncts between the Moon in compassionate, kind and nurturing Cancer meeting up with Venus, Mars and Pluto in fly your freak flag Aquarius. Can we be our authentic selves and still be in touch with our most vulnerable emotions? Can we look into the darkness, and still have compassion for our fellow humans? This is the energy that we have to confront. The Moon does trine with Spiritual guru Saturn in Pisces who tells us we need to awaken to a new perspective, and the only way we can do that is by doing the work. Light your candles, say your prayers, meditative, tune into what the invisibles are trying to tell you. This is a great time to work on a creative project, you’ll find that inspiration just flows, if you’re willing to open up and allow it to speak to you.
