“Whatever you are, be brave. The world is dark, but that is no reason to stop being brave. Even brave people get scared. Especially brave people.” — *V.E. Schwab (Capricorn Moon, later degree)
That quote is from a book I’m currently reading, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I think I saw the movie (based on the book), and — as usual — the movie isn’t as good as the book. There’s something to be said for being caught in the lyrical music of fiction. This book has been a wonderful escape, and I plan to enjoy it in the evenings, reading out in my garden.
Yesterday, I went to the doctor and had a good check-up — whew. I’ve been carrying a lot of stress lately, probably from the Full Moon energy. With Cancer in my 12th house, there’s this deep emotional undercurrent I’ve been wrestling with. It’s frustrating, to say the least. As someone with a Capricorn Moon, I’ve always had to work at processing my emotions. It doesn’t come easily, but I do the work.
My art process has slowed down. I need to recommit. Ironically, I’m currently sketching the Death card in my sketchbook — and with the Moon waning, maybe that’s exactly where I’m meant to be. Freya’s timeline, not mine.
My tablet doesn’t charge anymore — it’s been rendered useless by time. It was the only Apple product I used, mostly for the Sketchy app. I haven’t found another app that offers reference photos the way that one did. Pinterest used to be great for that, but now it’s clogged with AI-generated images, and I can’t seem to filter them out. So maybe it’s time to go old-fashioned and start finding my own models again. It’ll take more effort, but it might actually be a blessing. It could ease the isolation and bring more soul into my work.
Magic: Star Water Spell
What you’ll need:
– A lantern
– A clear bowl of water
– A starry night sky
– A five-pointed flower (like a star)
– A silver or white candle
On a starry night, go outside with your lantern and your bowl of water. Find a flower with five points and place it gently in the bowl. Set the bowl on the earth. Then, stand tall beside it, raise your lantern to the sky, and say:
“I call back my energy from all directions.
I release the weight I no longer need.
I make space for hope, vision, and healing.
As the Moon shifts, so do I.”
Take a few deep breaths. Let the starlight seep into your spirit. Imagine it lifting your mood and softening your heart. Pour the water into the soil, libating the star energy into the earth. If possible, stand barefoot on that spot. Feel the magic rooting in your body, offering clarity, perspective, and hope.
Blow out your candle. Leave your lantern there for the night. Go to sleep with the intention of dreaming of hope and courage.
Astrology for Today – July 11
The Moon is void of course in Capricorn until 1:21 PM ET, squaring Chiron in Aries. Emotional wounds, especially old ones from childhood, may surface. The Moon void adds a heavy, stuck feeling — like we’re trudging through emotional mud. Resentments may bubble up. This isn’t a good time to try to control anything.
What to do during a Capricorn void Moon:
Sit with your journal. Read old entries. Reflect.
Think about what structures in your life truly support you.
Ask yourself: What obligations am I carrying that no longer serve me — or anyone else?
Allow space for inner child healing.
Tidy your workspace — slowly, with intention.
This Afternoon:
The Moon enters Aquarius and conjuncts Pluto. This combo asks for emotional transformation. It may be time to take a step back from someone or something in order to regroup. Seek clarity by zooming out — Aquarius invites us to see the big picture, not get lost in the drama. Think about how you can support your wider community or collective. Stoicism has its place here.
The Moon also sextiles Neptune and Saturn, both now in Aries. Sextiles are quiet gifts. The message? We have the courage to make a plan. Dreams don’t manifest without structure. This isn’t a time to escape — it’s a time to face your fears and commit. As the quote from Addie LaRue says:
“Be brave.”
The Moon also trines Uranus in Gemini, delivering flashes of insight — lightning bolts of truth. This is the “shuffle divination” energy — when you hit random on a playlist or radio and the song answers your question perfectly. I often do that while driving. Sometimes the universe gives you exactly what you need… and sometimes it tells you what you don’t want to hear. But either way, the truth arrives.
Uranus in Gemini brings unexpected clarity. Tune in.
